Greengage DB launched as open-source alternative to proprietary Greenplum

Today we’re launching Greengage DB, a new project for the community of Greenplum users. Greengage DB is an open-source massively parallel (MPP) database management system based on Greenplum.

In May 2024, the repositories of Greenplum were unexpectedly archived. During that period, the most active community contributors joined their forces to create Greengage DB and revive the open-source project under the new name and new governing principles.

The Greengage DB community will maintain the development of two project branches, Greengage 6.x (based on Greenplum 6.x) and Greengage 7.x (based on Greenplum 7.x).
